Gear Change On The Agenda For Star Mare

MICK Price will consider putting blinkers on Secret Agenda when she tries to make it two wins in a row in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes on Saturday week in Adelaide.

Price was pleased with Secret Agenda’s third in the 1100m Irwin Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.

A phone call to jockey Dominic Tourneur on Sunday morning buoyed Price’s confidence and gave him some cause for concern.

“He said she cruised up to them and was going to win, but when she hit the front she stopped and waited for them,” Price said.

“Last year she led throughout to win the Sangster, so that’s a bit abnormal for her.

“I might try blinkers on her in trackwork and will consider running her in them.”

Price said even before speaking to Tourneur he thought Secret Agenda had done enough to suggest she could win the 1200m Sangster.

“She was 29 days between runs and she was a little underdone knowing she’s going to peak in the Sangster on Saturday week,’’ he said.

“A tough run and then a trip to Adelaide and back will bring her right on.”

Damien Oliver, who was aboard Secret Agenda in last year’s Sangster, will take the ride.
