This colt was purchased from the Inglis Classic Sale under the draft of Widden Stud, one of the best stud farms in Australia, a beautiful Zousain Colt.

Zousain throws some outstanding individuals from what you can see from this boy. He’s big, he’s strong, plenty of power behind the saddle. We think he will make a great sprinter miler type. We rated this colt very highly and purchased the colt at a bargain price. The colt will get every chance with astute trainer, Peter Moody.

The colt passed 100% clean on his x-rays and clinical examination and was rated low risk.

The Sire: ZOUSAIN

Zousain was a two-time winner as a two-year-old and he amassed over $746k in prize money in just 13 starts. Zousain was a precocious juvenile a two-year-old Group 2 winner & Group 1 runner-up.

Zousain placed second in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes 0.2L to Sunlight. A Group 1 runner up in the Golden Rose by 0.2L to The Autumn Sun. He is an outstanding physical – a replica of his sire. The best and fastest son of Zoustar. New to the breeding barn, his oldest progeny are now rising 2YO’s.

The Dam: WARZONE

The Dam, Warzone was a 2 time winner at 1600m in New Zealand, and is the half-sister to SHE RULES, (dam of ANAHEIM). This is her fifth foal, her fourth foal is a 2yo. Dam of 3 foals to race, 1 winner.

The Trainers: PETER MOODY & KATHERINE COLEMAN

Peter Moody is considered a great trainer by most in the industry arguably training the best horse the world has ever witnessed in Black Caviar. Peter Moody stats speak for themselves with 2577 career wins with 56 at Group 1 level amassing over $115 million in prizemoney.

Peter’s strike rate is not short of amazing with a win strike rate of 18% and an incredible Group 1 strike rate of 10%. He will set up his return to training with boxes at Pakenham.

Peter Moody has commented, “I am [excited]. I’m a bit tentative about it, I’ve got to learn to get back out there and get on the tools again but not too much has changed,” he said. “I’ve got no doubt I’ll be a better trainer this time around because I’m going to be more relaxed and be able to manage my time much better, and I’ll have a smaller team.”

The Zousain colt has arrived safely to Sam Fasher’s property in the Hawkesbury today, ready to commence being broken in.

This of course will be his first preparation towards his career ahead of becoming a racehorse. He is in outstanding hands with Sam who is a champion eventer and show jumper. Sam has broken in plenty of horses, and the finished product is a well-mannered and well-educated young horse.

The process of breaking in a horse is to desensitise them, familiarise them with wearing a saddle and gear, be mouthed, be ridden and to adapt to the rider’s instructions. The colt will also go through the barriers so he can familiarise himself with that important aspect of going to the races. This new start to racing life can sometimes be a little stressful for a young horse but he is in good hands with Sam who will always put the colt’s well-being first.

The breaking in process usually takes around 30 days or so to complete and we will continue to update you on his progress each fortnight.
